Business Card

What do you think?
Nothing too fancy.
Yet to design the back.
No idea what to do with it.
This looks like a poem.
I'm not a poetic person.
Ignore the last two lines.

Its not perfect. Comments are most welcomed.

I just want to thank a few people who contributed to this project:
1. Yandha Krishna - my legendary drummer. this guy is a machine.
2.Indra aka RockCat - amazing guitarist and music director from Jakarta.
3. AEDF1008 guys who have helped out during the production and post production stage.
4. Red - for helping me out with the vocals in such a short period of time.
5. Hosea - thanks for the keyboard track.

I officially grad from my first year at SAE Singapore. Wupee. No more assignments!
Oh wait, I just accepted my first freelance job as a composer. damn.

Got to get back to my work now. Enjoy the song. Cheers =)

PS: Excuse my vocalist's accent. Everybody has an accent =P

One down, one more to go

Final presentation went pretty well today. I guess. Here is what happened chronologically:

Sunday
1400 - Mix till my ears bleed
2300 - Finish up my presentation slides (54 slides all together)

Monday
0000 - still working on my slides
0300 - decided to go to bed so that i wont look like a zombie during my presentation
0930 - wake up to master my mix
1230 - logged my mastering process
1300 - left for school
1400 - reached there just in time to present
1600 - done!!

I'm officially sick of the song. I must have listened to it a thousand times by now.

There were some good and bad comments. However, I think that the "bad" comments were very subjective as it falls under the grey area of "personal preference" =P
There were no technical faults on my end so I think I did a pretty decent job *snob face*

You guys can be the judge come Monday when it is up.

Albeit the "flawed" mix, they did like my presentation. "Very professional" and "this should be the standard for all presentations" were some of the comments given =) To be honest, I was a bit nervous while presenting because I didn't expect so many people to sit in.

I am 78.57% satisfied. (no idea why it's such an odd number)

Acoustic assignment awaits!

.... but for now, I shall indulge in my slumber that was robbed from me over the past few weeks.

Good night world.

1.5 Months to go

Sorry for the long hiatus. I never keep my promises i know. The video is still undergoing some minor touch up and we are in the midst of creating the bloopers. It's been really hectic this time round as my finals are drawing near. 1.5 months to graduate!!

I would miss the free studio time though. The familiarity of the equipments and staff. Will be heading back to KL once I'm done and will have to wait for 4 months before heading down South again (but this time it's AUSSIE).

Studios are now open on Sundays which means that I would also be working on weekends. Uh-huh, I officially have no life. In the midst of my final recording now. I'm quite impressed by the quality of it. FYI, I think I'm going to present "Make Things Right" for my finals. I'm still trying to find a male vocalist to do the vocals!!!

I want this:

And here are my over worked team mates for the Press Kit:

Anybody looking for an audio engineer? Quality is ensured for a very affordable price (I might not even charge if the project is worth it). I can do any kind of project: band recording, composing, audio editing, audio post for films, video editing (Final Cut Pro and After Effects), etc. Drop me an email at: brendan89@gmail.com

Blogger is back online!

Thank goodness. I've been trying to blog these few days but blogger has been giving me a hard time. Maybe its just my connection over here. Anyway, I haven't been home much for the past one month due to my crazy work schedule. I have to wake up at 8am everyday to go for class and I get home around 12.20pm. Even my weekends have been robbed from me. However, I have learned a lot about film over this period of time. So I guess it was worth it =)

I will post the electronic press kit that I have shot on Youtube or something when I have the final product ready. The press release edit should be ready in 24 hours time as my presentation is due tomorrow. Wish me luck! More details regarding this project will be included in my next post coz right now I gotta run along and bath as I'm going to be late for my production team's meeting. Ciaoz!

Terri says hi! :D

Internet disruption

Sorry for the hiatus but the internet here is wonky due to the damaged cables in Taiwan (don't ask me how). Will be back when it gets better. I can't even Facebook properly. Sheesh.

Absolut

Home for the weekend! Well, not for long coz I'm heading back on Monday due to my hectic schedule. Just a quick update before my mum comes and pick me up to get my return ticket. What I've done so far:

1. Learned the basics of photography/film
2. Learned how to use Final Cut Pro
3. Learned how to appreciate cinematography.

What I have not done:
1. finish my mix for Make Things Right. (I can't get it to sound right. my expectations are too high)
2. Learn how to play all the various jazz chords on the guitar.
3. cut my hair

There you have it. A very quick update for the curious souls.

PS: go check out Pleasure P's album. Very good rnb tracks. Cheers!

Progress...

Just started a new semester here at SAE which is now located at Clark Quay. New building, new studio, new toilet, new makan place, etc. I kinda like it here, it is more spacious compared to the previous campus and it looks way cooler. Will post some pics when I actually get hold of a camera.

This semester is all about filming. It's kind of weird to have film classes in an audio course but I guess it's related in a way. This semester's assignment is really crucial because it carries a lot of weight on my final results. I have to come up with an Electronic Press Kit with 3 other members of my group. I think my talent would be a Cuban dancer (Eddie's friend)*.

*Eddie is a dance instructor

Progress on "Make Things Right". I gave up mixing that song on Logic because the learning curve for the software is way too steep. So I'm reverting back to ProTools. What can I say, there's no place like home =) I have mixed the drum tracks and a little bit of the acoustic tracks. Still got loads more to do. (You see, I have 50 over tracks minus the vocals and synth tracks. So yea, that's like A LOT of tracks)

Will continue mixing tonight and probably bring it into the new studio for referencing later on. Hopefully, I would be able to juggle my time properly coz the film stuff do take up a fair amount of time.

That's all for now. Will go grab a bite now. Ciao!!!

Vocal tracking next week!!! Hopefully.
